"It was disappointing."

Elisabeth Knezevic, student from Austria

The teachers were good in general but the organisation is ridiculous and I didn´t get the hours that I paid for. I had every day, one week from 09:00-10:45 and then from 11:00-12:15 courses - this equals to 3 hours a day - 15 hours a week and I paid for 20! First of all this and second, the evaluation test was done Monday Morning which took another 1h45 from my paid lessons. In other schools those tests are done online before coming and the oral test via phone before arriving or if not possible before the course starts. So in fact I only had 13h15 of course and It makes me very upset. I want to be reimbursed for the missing hours because this is ridiculous.

Regarding the activities and housing I can not comment as I didn´t participe in that program. The location of the school is good as the subway and many restaurants/shops are close to buy something during the break. As mentioned, the teachers are good but they can only make something out of what they are allowed to and if you limit them with hours and missing material - it´s hard to perform well.

Dear Elisabeth,

We feel very sorry that your experience was not as fruitful and delighted as you expected :(

We normally send the confirmation of the course, invoice and online level test to every student but maybe it could directly go to your spam or junk email.

Our lessons lasts 45 minutes and we always describe our courses as such but if you feel you need more time to practice your Spanish, we are very glad to give you 2-Skype lessons of 1 hour each as added value for free. As private tuition, you can focus them on the lessons you missed that day or any other specific subject such as grammar, literature, history, current cultural topics…

I hope we could suit your needs :)

Regards,
Estudio Sampere team

Good, comfortable, welcoming accommodation makes all the difference to your Spanish studies in Spain, Ecuador, or in Cuba. We understand this and work hard to give you the best choice of accommodation in all destinations.

Homestay is the most popular choice in all Sampere destinations. You live with a host family, sharing meals and facilities and practising your Spanish in a traditional and friendly environment. The locations are varied, ranging from houses at a walking distance from the city-center and the school to houses located in other interesting neighbourhoods about 40 minutes away from the school by public transport. However, most of our families are located not far from the school. Walking distance is usually 20-25 minutes. Public transport (subway or bus) normally takes about 15 minutes. In Madrid, a journey of 30-40 minutes on public transport is possible.

Most students book a single room. Students under 25 years can book double rooms. Two people travelling together may request a double room.

Good, comfortable, welcoming accommodation makes all the difference to your Spanish studies in Spain, Ecuador, or in Cuba. We understand this and work hard to give you the best choice of accommodation in all destinations.

Renting a student room gives you a more independent lifestyle. You share an apartment with 2 to 4 other people, usually other Sampere students, with whom you also share certain expenses such as toiletries and cleaning materials. You have a private and basic room (bed, table, closet, lamps, window). The kitchen, living room and bathroom are communal. Together you are responsible for keeping the apartment clean.

The minimum stay in a student room is 1 week. We advise long-term students to book the first four weeks before arrival. Once in Spain, you can extend the rental period. The locations are varied, ranging from apartments at a walking distance from the city-center and the school to apartments located in other interesting neighbourhoods up to 40 minutes away from the school by public transport.

Apartments are available for individuals or two people booking together. Typical studios have one or two beds, a fully equipped bathroom with towels, kitchenette with refrigerator and other services for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. The address of the apartment is provided with your course confirmation and invoice. At this time you will also receive the telephone number of the key holder. You should contact this person a few days before arrival to confirm your arrival time, which should be from early afternoon until 11pm. on Sunday. Estudio Sampere is not responsible for any expenses arising from late arrivals, changes of plan or failure to contact the key holder.

The studios are within walking distance of the school. Minimum stay The minimum stay is 1 week.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Salamanca district is one of the most prestigious areas in Madrid. The school is surrounded by tree-lined avenues, with beautiful old facade buildings. It boasts important commercial areas, such as Serrano and José Ortega y Gasset streets.

This area has lots of restaurants, bars, and cafes, where students can find all types of cuisine, especially local traditional food. As this is a lively area, transportation options are very broad: four underground lines, and seven different bus lines

THE CITY
Madrid, the capital of Spain, is a cosmopolitan city that combines state-of-the-art infrastructures with an immense cultural and artistic heritage. It offers worldwide renowned highlights, such as the Prado Museum, the Reina Sofia Museum, and El Retiro Park, which are among the most visited in the world. Madrid has a very broad and diverse gastronomy, thanks to the influence of different cultures
which settled in the city for many years, especially in Lavapies, the multicultural neighborhood of Madrid.

One of the most traditional spots in the city is the Plaza Mayor, where you can buy violet candies, try chocolate with churros, and enjoy numerous performances and traditional dances.
