Monaco is a small sovereign city-state found in south western Europe. It rests on the northern central coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It is the name of the country and its capital, and its government is a constitutional monarchy. Students enrolled in French school in Monaco will find that the country and city got its name from a nearby Greek colony dating back to the 6th century. Visitors to the area will enjoy the warm, Mediterranean climate with its warm, dry summers and its mild, rainy winters. Occasionally the area experiences some cool, rainy days during the summer, but they are the exception rather than the norm. Students should be sure to enjoy some of the local museums like the Oceanographic Museum which is dedicated to all marine sciences. The Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology is another interesting excursion. There are also a number of monuments worth visiting during your stay. The Monaco Cathedral is a popular destination.
