Abbotsford is located in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, adjacent to Metro Vancouver, Canada. It is the 5th largest municipality in British Columbia and its southern boundary is the Canada–United States border. Abbotsford's colonial development began in 1858 when the Royal Engineers surveyed the area in response to the Gold Rush along the Fraser River. The road that was constructed was called Yale Road, and eventually became the main artery to the Fraser Valley which started producing butter, milk and tobacco in the 1860s. Even today Abbotsford is well known for its Agri-Tourism attractions. For students interested in studying English courses in Abbotsford, there are plenty places to practice your newfound English skills. Students can check out Historic Downtown Abbotsford and the Clayburn Village Store for shopping or some of the many large shopping plazas.
