Course description

The University Pathway Course is available in two formats: the Year University Pathway and the Fast Track University Pathway. The Year Pathway starts at the beginning of September and is designed for students who want a longer preparation period. The Fast Track Pathway starts in October and is designed for students who already have a sufficient Spanish level or need a shorter, more intensive preparation route.

The University Pathway Course is designed for international students who want to prepare for access to bachelor’s studies at a Spanish university. Depending on the student’s Spanish level, academic background and available preparation time, students may choose either the Year University Pathway or the Fast Track University Pathway.

The program combines Spanish language study with preparation for the Spanish university entrance process, especially the PCE exams, also commonly referred to as EBAU, PAU or Selectividad depending on the context. The Year Pathway is suitable for students who need more time to build their Spanish level, usually aiming towards at least B1–B2 before exam preparation. The Fast Track Pathway is suitable for students who already have a sufficient Spanish level or limited time before the exam period.

Students receive academic guidance and PCE preparation based on their goals, previous education and the requirements of their chosen degree or university. Before starting the exam-preparation stage, students may have an interview with a tutor to review their Spanish level, academic background, target degree and university options, and to help define a suitable study plan.

Linguaschools also provides practical guidance with course documentation, student visa preparation, NIE/TIE procedures and university application steps where applicable. Requirements vary by student profile, nationality, previous education, chosen degree and university. Official exam fees, university application fees and administrative costs are not included unless specifically stated.

"Professional, friendly and flexible staff and the school is situated in a beautiful street in a lovely building."

Gitte Helene Jorgensen, student from Denmark

It was a great experience and I had a perfect brush up on my Spanish especially the grammar. My teacher was open minded and professional - she listened carefully to my stories and corrected me without ruining my self confidence (-:

The settings around the school are beautiful and there are cafes nearby for your break.
All in all a fantastic course for me.

"A good language school, convenient and beautifully located with good staff and facilities."

dele momoh, student from UK

• Overall I had a positive experience.
• The classes had a friendly cast of fellow students and were well proportioned at 9-10 students
• The teachers were personable, friendly and enthusiastic (will detail exception below)
• The building location and support staff were great.
• I did not make use of extracurricular activities.

• Areas of improvement:
1) proper tables/chairs - the chairs extended notebook support don't offer enough space.

2) beginners classes use of English - teachers at entry/beginners level should deploy a
little more English at times to give context or improve speed. the Spanish only approach
is just not that effective when students don't have a minimum knowledge-base yet

3) Teacher Pilar - her teaching style would benefit from more patience, good will and less self-righteousness.
Depending on her day-form she interrupts students a lot with imminent corrections often with a persistence that lacks
empathy and respect. Myself and others have frequently found this demotivating.
Her instance on traditional conservative teacher-student role-order is out of place in a private school where
adult student are paying clients not under-aged minors. .

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear that your overall experience at Linguaschools Barcelona was positive, and that you appreciated the friendly atmosphere in class, the group size, the location, and the support from our team.

We also appreciate your comments about the classroom setup and the needs of beginner-level students. Feedback like this is useful for us as we continue improving the learning environment and the way we support students at different levels.

We’re sorry to hear that one part of your classroom experience felt demotivating. Our aim is always to create a respectful, encouraging atmosphere for adult learners, and we will take your comments seriously with the academic team.

Thank you again for your honest feedback and for highlighting both the positive aspects and the areas where we can improve.

"I enjoyed speaking Spanish, discovering Barcelona and meeting extremely friendly people."

Laia Herlevi, student from Finland

I enjoyed my experience in Barcelona in general and had an unforgettable summer speaking Spanish. In ten weeks I learned to speak Spanish quite spontaneously, which was my goal. The classes were helpful and I found studying grammar very useful. I only had ten lessons a week, but they were clearly very important. The teachers and everyone at school were welcoming and generous as well as the family I was living with during my stay. I was happy with the location of my house, because I enjoyed walking around in Barcelona. I was pleased with the school too, because it was comfortable and lovely as well as small enough to get to know people easily. I had fun participating in the activities that were different from each other and a great way to explore the city and meet new people. I also liked the fact that there were activities a few times a week, not too much nor too little.

Thank you very much for your wonderful and detailed review! We’re so happy to hear that your summer in Barcelona was such a positive experience and that you reached your goal of speaking Spanish more spontaneously during your 10-week stay.

It’s great to know that the classes, grammar work, teachers, school team, host family, and accommodation all contributed to your experience. We’re also glad you enjoyed the comfortable, friendly atmosphere of our school and that it was easy to get to know other students.

Thank you as well for mentioning the activities. We’re happy they helped you explore Barcelona, practise Spanish outside the classroom, and meet new people. We really appreciate your kind words and hope you keep great memories of your time at Linguaschools Barcelona.

"Meeting people from many countries in a good atmosphere. Learned a lot and tried to talk Spanish."

Bo Klareskov, student from Denmark

I think I was the oldest in these two weeks, but that didn't bother me. In contrary I enjoyed it very much meeting other people from all over the world also trying to learn Spanish. Most of them were better than me and I had to be very alert to follow the lessons. Maybe my class level was too high. One of the teachers was too fast speaking (my problem) . Anyway the teachers were fantastic, very engaged, well prepared and friendly. I really felt these two weeks were a very good experience. I'm seriously considering doing this again, if my wife will allow it. The school itself is perfect with rather small classrooms. In that way you are close to your teacher and communication among all participants is easy. I enjoyed my stay very much. Thank you.
