Coto Japanese Institute is a full-time Japanese language school located in Kokubunji, a charming residential town in western Tokyo. The area is conveniently connected to central Tokyo via the JR Chuo Line. Shinjuku Station is approximately 25 minutes away, and there is also a direct line to Tokyo Station.
Kokubunji's rich cultural history is reflected in its many historical landmarks, temples, and parks, including the remains of Musashino Kokubunji Temple. The area is also home to around twenty universities, among them Tokyo Gakugei University, an institution that has played a significant role in shaping Japan’s educational policies.
Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying Japanese in Tokyo. These homes are often between 25 - 50 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
