Course description

INTENSIVE ELEMENTARY/BASIC (A1, A1+)

Prerequisite for the participation in this course is an elementary knowledge of the language.

Elementary knowledge means here that the student is already familiar with the Greek alphabet, is able to give (and ask for) basic information about him/herself and other persons (name, country of origin, place of residence, job, family status) is able to use some basic verbs in present tense, knows the nominative and accusative case of the Greek nouns in singular (basic categories)

Students can join an A1 course in its second or third week (A1+) according to their current level

In the second, third or fourth week of the A1 course the student will feel more confident with the above and is going to learn how to talk about his/her daily routine, about future or past events, how to communicate effectively in simple everyday situations (for example: shopping). What grammar concerns: consolidation of present tense, learning of the future/past tense, plural of Greek nouns, genitive case are some of the most basic syllabus components for A1 and A1+ level course.

The school follows the level distinction and the detailed course syllabus proposed by the Common European Frame of Reference by the Council of Europe, as it is adopted for the Greek Language by the Centre for the Greek Language (Greek Ministry of Education)

Intensive courses cater for foreigners who don't live permanently in Greece or those who want to make faster progress within a shorter period of time.

Aim of the general intensive course is the balanced development of all four language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing. Our ambition is to make the lesson an interesting experience for the students by enriching it with authentic materials, adjusted to the course level and to the students' interests.

Intensive courses in the year 2022 will be offered on specific dates between June and September 2022.
Specific health measures will be taken for the protection against covid-19.

"In a short time, I ve learned a lot of grammer, vocabulary and greek culture"

Cornelia Heschel, student from Switzerland

A very nice school, with a touch of ancient Greece not far from the Center of Chania, surrounded by a nice and peaceful garden. In my two weeks stay I had the opportunity to taste and see Angela s big fine qualities making the lovely food Boureki and Cretan Salad in the school kitchen. We went as well out to a Taverva and to the Elefterios Venizelos Museum guided by Angela. One eve we had the opportunity to see a film about greek History.

As to my classes; On the first day I had 2 lessons with Angela and a class of 4 students on A2 level. I ve learned at once a lot of new words, conversation and expressions, and the ambiance was brilliant doing dialogues together. Afterwards, as i was still a beginner, I had private classes every morning for 2h, where I ve learned a huge amount of vocabulary, grammary and conversation. My private teacher Katerina had the facility transmit to me the grammar and vocabulary on a very clear, easy and very comprehensive way. Thank you for all the lessons I ve learned.

I had a very nice time at Kleis School, can only recommend it, and will certainly come back soon.
