WISE ENGLISH WARNBOROUGH COLLEGE is the language department of Warnborough College. We have been helping international students change and improve their lives by learning English since 1973.
WISE English is located in beautiful and historic Canterbury, which is the perfect location for learning English.
We have been teaching English successfully since 1973, both in England and internationally. Our teachers are friendly and helpful - we want to help you learn English quickly and effectively.
We are specialists in teaching adults. Our courses can be combined with other fields like business, engineering, and science. Learners who want to improve their English for university can also do special courses to prepare for IELTS, Cambridge proficiency tests and TOEFL.
We offer one-to-one teaching so that you get maximum attention. If you have limited time, we can design a fast-track programme for you.
Our approach to teaching is very different to most other colleges. Our 45 years experience in teaching English has ensured that we can tailor the course to your needs and not simply follow a course book. On joining the college you will complete a number of assessments. These are used to create a unique, personalised learning programme.
Your reading, writing and grammar skills will be developed as homework activities, with regular and individual feedback given from your tutor. This allows us to concentrate on listening, speaking and pronunciation in all classes – the skills all students demand. Few other colleges teach this way.
We provide educational trips and many other optional activities all year round. These allow you to experience British culture through history, theatre, drama, literature and art. You will also meet British people and get to know local customs, traditions and language.
Warnborough through its Warnborough Intensive School of English (WISE ENGLISH) department focuses on private individual lessons. This is fast-track learning and the programme is designed around your needs and interests.
The nationality and age mix at WARNBOROUGH INTENSIVE SCHOOL OF ENGLISH, WARNBOROUGH COLLEGE CANTERBURY varies over different time periods, courses and levels. Throughout the year, the average age is 23. In the summer, the average age is 23.
WISE ENGLISH teaches students from all over the world, including:

WELCOME TO CANTERBURY - WELCOME TO WARNBOROUGH
Although I visited WISE last december, which only means bitterly cold weather and pitch black sky, I didn't feel any cold as I was warmly welcomed by the host family and WISE Team. By talking about the quality of teaching there, I here refer to my teachers whom I have been conversing with during my training: Dr. Brenden, Dr. Julian, Mr. Chris, not to forget Nina, another vital member who brought happiness and success to Warnborough College. All teachers were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful; they helped me a lot to know who I am and what I am capable of, especially as a non-native speaker of English and as a fresh teacher who has just started delivering knowledge about this vital, universal language. The location of WC is by no means crucial to the success of it and the atmosphere inside the college is conducive to learning where you can find many computers at the learner's disposal for doing any research whether pertinent to the course being taken or not. What's more, the place is lovely and clean, nicely equiped and remodelled to give a vivid impression about this small world yet chock-full of knowledge. It is the teachers' role that makes WC a better place to think about. Unfortunately, I did not enrol on any social or learning activities due to my tight budget but I believe there would have been extra fun and learning if I had had the chance to enrol on any. I can recall the days outside having a look at virtually every corner of beautiful Canterbury with my teachers, enjoying the mediaeval castles and buildings that survived the Blitz. What a historical overview Dr. Julian gave about Canterbury? And how significant business and teaching insights both Dr. Brenden and Mr. chris provided! I finally thank Gill and Mike, the best family I have ever met away from my homeland. I felt cocooned by warmth and love there as if it was my second family. Mass of thanks to this beautiful couple and deep appreciation to WC Team.

Hello Amin,
Thank you very much for such a great review!
We work really hard to offer the best support and service in the best possible environment. We are really happy to see your review.
Keep learning and we hope to see you again soon.
I didn´t spend so much time in the College, so I can hardly talk about the facilities there. But the stuff I worked with was fine (except the computer in the classroom, okay...).
The teachers were awesome, always kind and polite, helpful, and they had lots of background information.
The location was also okay, it was no problem for me to walk a little bit, furthermore, we had several bus stations and enough possibilities to go shopping.
Our activities were also exciting, we had the chance to see a lot of England's, and especially Canterbury's history. The highlight was the trip to Dover Castle.
The only bad thing was our accommodation. Though it was renovated, the facilities quality weren´t the best, and everything look used. However, it was quite funny to live together with my classmates at the same place.
Hello Patrice,
Thank you for your feedback including about accommodation which I will pass on to the accommodation manager. I was not aware that you were unhappy about the accommodation, as I only received good feedback (written and verbal) while you were here, and also from your group, 11 students and teachers. However, it would be much grateful if you could let us know earlier while you were here, so we could discuss with the accommodation manager and sort out the problem straight away.
Anyway, thank you for letting us know.
Best greetings from WISE English Warnborough College Canterbury
I did an internship with my classmates in the WARNBOROUGH COLLEGE and learned so much about Canterbury and the college. We could do all the important things employees usually do. The staff really trusted us and it was very helpful to find out what I want to do after school.

When my friend and I decided to take part in an English course at WISE, we were a little worried as we were not young students but middle aged ones. Unexpectedly though, the morning we arrived at the school, we were warmly welcomed by Nina and Hendrik who immediately made us feel at home. We appreciated the location, the classes, and, in particular, Hendrik's kindness, helpfulness and competence. We also liked the lesson Dr. Nag taught us on the second day, although my friend considered it a little difficult.
In conclusion, our experience at WISE was totally positive and we'd like to do it again in the future.

I completed a 72 hour teacher training programme (Warnborough College, Canterbury). Our group worked with Mihaela Foxley and Jeffrey Ng. The arrangement was really good; we stayed in a good hotel, and had a great excursion programme. We visited London, Cambridge, Dover and the unforgettable excursions with Gillian Cotton and Dr. Julian Ng in Canterbury). Our training programme included lectures, workshops, visiting lessons, giving lessons and giving others activities. Most of all I liked the relationship with the WISE team; from the first days I felt like a friend not a student. I appreciate their work and experience they gave me. Thanks a lot.

That trip made such an impact on my life and my future. It was an unforgettable experience that was really worth experiencing and communicating with people who had a different mentality.
Coming back home to Krasnodar I continued living my life, filled with happiness, joy, and great accomplishment in my teaching career. Thank you very much for those 2 fabulous educational weeks.
I liked our stay at the Holiday Inn Express and our studies at CCCU. Teachers were very polite and experienced. Their classes were not boring and always had something new. It seemed to me that sometimes our activities and our whole schedule were not planned well beforehand.

I really enjoyed the classes! The teachers are qualified and experienced!
I would like to express all of my appreciation for organizing excursions and a theatre visit.
It was the best way to expand my personal growth.
All things considered, my personal experience was very good. The school is located in a very favorable position and so is the house of my host family, not precisely in the city center, but just a 15 minutes’ walk along the river (lovely in the mornings when it’s sunny!). I was happy with the classes and with the teachers. I had almost all the time one-to-one lessons, which was very intensive and useful and almost always fun! With regard to the after-school activities, there weren’t any, and this was the only negative point. The host family were lovely and attentive and the housing clean and comfortable.
